IHF, ACHE participate with PAHO – Development of international healthcare competencies.

The International Hospital Federation and the American College of Healthcare Executives participated in a meeting that was hosted by the PAHO (Pan American Health Organization) to develop international frameworks on healthcare manager competencies.

The event, that took place in the city of Washington D.C., gathered important healthcare executives from countries such as the US, Australia, Canada, Taiwan, Jamaica and the representatives of the European Association of Hospital Managers.

During the discussion it was noted as a key issue the need to strengthen the professionalization of health care managers worldwide.

The members of the meeting agreed to certain number of evolutions through this process as well as the need to discuss this issues with a larger audience; in the end a call of action was proclaimed.

The IHF and ACHE acted as conveners to this meeting, promoting a platform for the exchange of ideas and being key members for the development of the framework.

It should be noted that the initial work to this initiative will be presented in the IHF 2013 Oslo World Hospital Congress that will take place in June and it will follow up in November in the summit of the European Association of Hospital Managers.
